January 12th, 2017 marked the 7th anniversary of the earthquake that devastated Haiti in 2010 and what better way to help memorialize that day in Haiti’s history than a huge gospel concert with a international award winning artist such as Kirk Franklin. With some 10,000 people in attendance, The ‘Rise Up For Haiti’ Concert brought the community together for fellowship though something positive and showcased the resilience of the Haitian people, while giving Haitians the peace, unity, love and hope they need to be reminded that they have not been forgotten.
Rise Up For Haiti took place on Thursday, January 12th from 5pm to 10pm at Centre Sportif Henfrasa in Port-au-Prince and featured artists like Spirit of Praise from Atlanta, Sunday Best Will and Alexis, and Haitian gospel sensations Maggie Blanchard, Gospel Kreyol, Delly Benson, Gospel Vision, and Revelation Mizik.
Through strength and perseverance, Haiti has continued to forge ahead, even in the midst of hardship. A gospel concert of this caliber provided a platform for people from all over the world to join Haiti as they commemorated such a significant anniversary. Music uplifts and sheds light in the midst of struggle and Giving Hearts with Love Foundation is excited about having been able to share something different with Haiti while making an important memorial something to rejoice about because in the end Haiti is still standing and will continue to Rise Up!
